Aspen + ski in/ski out. Need we go on? (Okay, we will.) Soothing and contemporary interiors -- a rarity in the world of ski hotels -- and the best location around make the Little Nell the center of Aspen, and by extension, many peoples’ winter calendars. If you're still unconvinced, on-site Ajax is known for its legendary apres scene, and there’s no better feeling than being close to home when you say yes to another round.

What We Loved: The Little Nell is a smooth operator - you’re in the best location in town, and many establishments would rest on that alone. But the Little Nell is home to an incredible wine program, an impeccable contemporary art collection, and seamless service. We’d stay at the Little Nell if it were anywhere - but fortunately, it’s also at the beating heart of Aspen.

What We Didn’t Love: If you’re seeking cozy winter kitsch, the understated interiors may not check the full-hygge box (aka. don’t expect antlers in all of your decorating, a la Gaston)

Right For: Social butterfly/ski bunny hybrids. Families are welcome and well accommodated here, though they may want to look to the residences to make sure they have ample space.

Wrong For: Travelers who prefer their decor a little more on the cheeky side may prefer the Hotel Jerome.

Best Time to Visit: Did you forget we mentioned this is Aspen’s only ski-in/ski-out hotel? Book well ahead of big winter weekends and holidays. The Aspen Food & Wine Festival at the end of July is also a hot ticket (and the whole area is jaw-dropping in the summer).

TLF Tip: The Little Nell has graduated 10 of North America’s Master Sommeliers, the most of any establishment in North America. Tap into that know-how by attending the annual Wine Academy Weekend each April, which attracts major oenophiles.
