A private island resort with a health and wellness focus, the 75-room COMO Parrot Cay is one of the most luxurious resorts in Turks and Caicos. The sprawling 1,000-acre property is a 30-minute boat ride from Providenciales, offering guests unrivaled privacy and a tranquil atmosphere. The standout feature is the COMO Shambhala spa, a world-renowned wellness facility with a yoga pavilion, pilates studio, numerous treatment rooms, and an in-house Ayurvedic doctor. The holistic theme continues in the restaurants, where chefs happily cater to individual dietary restrictions. Rooms have a simple Balinese style and high-end amenities, while the resort’s villas have luxe features like outdoor showers and private pools.

What We Loved: Nothing trumpets “you’re on vacation” like every soft surface being swathed in white fabric. No kitschy palm-print textiles here - the crisp, clean aesthetic makes it easy to clear your mind and settle into a state of floaty zen.

What We Didn’t Love: Is it possible for a place to be too relaxing? Those in search of a bit of excitement might be looking for a while (unless Keith Richards happens to be in residence, holding up the bar, which is a common sight around these parts.)

Right For: Divers and marine life lovers - one of the world’s top ten scuba sites is within reach, if you can tear yourself away from your plunge pool and the mile-long stretch of perfect white sand beach.

Wrong For: Travelers who like to return from their Caribbean jaunts with a tan and a suitcase full of new caftans and coverups will miss the top-notch shopping afforded by more developed destinations.

Best Time to Visit: Plan well ahead for the holidays and spring break, when this is the place to see and be seen for a chunk of Hollywood types; note that the resort battens down the hatches from the end of August until October.

TLF Tip: Famous 18th-century Irish pirate Anne Bonny camped on Parrot Cay (originally called Pirate Cay), and legend has it she left buried treasure behind.
