Cozy, art-filled, and eclectically designed, Hotel Vilon is one of Rome’s best boutique options. Housed in a former Borghese family annex, the hotel has a residential feel, with intimate gathering spaces and curated details. The lobby lounge, a jewel box of modern art and posh decor, is the perfect spot to settle in with an evening aperitivo. Vilon’s 18 art deco inspired rooms are a property highlight – no two are exactly the same, but several feature outdoor terraces overlooking a private section of Villa Borghese’s immaculate gardens.

What We Loved: Curated décor, cozy atmosphere, stylish bar, private courtyards views of Villa Borghese

What We Didn’t Love: Lack of fitness center and spa

Right For: Travelers with an eye for design who enjoy boutique hotels with attentive service

Wrong For: Travelers who prioritize a bustling, buzzy scene and lots of amenities

Best Time to Visit: March-June, September-November

TLF Tip: No two rooms are alike, but the Vilon Suite strays from the other rooms’ light, airy color palette. Choose the Vilon Suite if you prefer darker, more dramatic décor.
