Soho Beach House Canouan
Hotel Name: Soho Beach House Canouan
Number of Rooms: 40 rooms, suites, and villas
Location: Soho Beach House Canouan is on Grand Bay Beach, a curve of sand on the west coast of the idyllic island of Canouan, part of the Grenadines. Canouan shares a considerable amount of DNA with neighboring Barbados. But while Barbados is home to almost 300,000 year-round residents, only 1,700 locals call Canouan home.
Travelers who are especially resistant to shoes are going to find lots to love at the low-slung palapa rooftops of the Soho Beach House Canouan. The understated, retro-chic rooms at the Soho House are a little bit Harbour Island and a little bit Tulum, and the whole scene has a healthy dollop of the brand’s finger-on-the-pulse style. The 40 bedrooms are gathered convivially along the sands of Grand Bay Beach in blue-roofed buildings that mirror the waves, and a jetty with a sky-blue sign that’s giving original St Tropez Club 55 vibes.
What We Loved: We can’t get enough of Soho House’s breezy style, seen here through a chic Caribbean lens - the pairing of brand and destination is spot-on.
What We Didn’t Love: Some of the bright young things that are drawn to Soho House’s reputation for a scene may find Canouan a little sleepy, but that means more seats at Maxwell’s Bar for us.
Right For: Creatives and remote workers who want to recharge in a peaceful, inspiring environment; families with laid-back teens; groups of girlfriends or couples.
Wrong For: Party animals and scene stealers - unless you buy out all 40 rooms, which make a perfect setting for a wedding or landmark celebration.
Best Time to Visit: Between December and May, when the weather is sunny and dry, making it perfect for beach days and exploring the island.
TLF Tip: Have the team set up a romantic private dinner at the end of the jetty, for an evening that feels like you’re floating.
