Mii Amo
Hotel Name: Mii Amo Spa Resort
Number Rooms: 16
Location: Nestled into the spectacular Boyton Canyon, 5 miles from downtown Sedona; 2 hours north of Phoenix/Scottsdale; 2 and a half hours south of the Grand Canyon.
Originally a private ranch, Enchantment Resort and its little sister, Mii Amo, feature a huddle of Southwest-style adobe casitas that are interspersed throughout Arizona’s beautiful, red-rock Boynton Canyon. Nestled in a spectacular location built on Native American spiritual ground, a stay Mii Amo is a transformative and relaxing escape that kindly pushes you towards your ultimate self. The body treatments here—like the psychic massage and the Sedona clay wrap—are divine, and spiritual treatments include meditation, hypnosis, and past life regression. Mii Amo’s 16 rooms are an enclave within the larger Enchantment resort, and guests opt for 3, 4 or 7-day experiences. Although it may all sound New Agey, Mii Amo really is like 3 years of therapy in 3 days.
What We Loved: The stunning setting and world-famous energetic vortexes in the red earth around Sedona mean the property literally buzzes with new-age feel-good vibes. The organic chef’s garden and exploratory experiences into the surrounding lands (both physical and symbolic) mean this isn’t just a yoga-and-massage joint, but a holistic wellness destination.
What We Didn’t Love: Though recently renovated, the rooms themselves can feel a bit sterile; all the better to keep your focus on inner peace and outdoor beauty.
Right For: A girls’ trip, couple’s retreat, or solo sojourn.
Wrong For: Mii Amo is adults-only, so leave the kids at home.
Best Time to Visit: Sedona is at its peak from March-May, when desert flowers are in full bloom. September-November weather is beautiful as well.
TLF Tip: Start your day with the Morning Ritual in the Crystal Grotto, where the sun shines directly onto a healing quartz crystal to “light” a petrified wood fountain; bookend your day with a post-dinner massage (nighttime spa treatments lead to epically restful sleep.)
