The opening of the One & Only Portonovi on May 1st marks a new era in Adriatic tourism.

One & Only, the award winning luxury resort brand known for its exclusive enclaves in far-flung locales like the Maldives, Rwanda, and Dubai is making a splash along the Adriatic coast with the opening of the One & Only Portonovi. The seaside resort, which fronts the Bay of Kotor (also called Boka), will be the brand’s first in Europe, marking a prolific era of development for the region. The hotel will begin welcoming guests on May 1, 2021.
The Specs
The 131-room resort is composed of 105 guest rooms, 24 suites, and two stand-alone villas. An endless amenities list includes six resort pools, a private beach club, tennis courts, separate kids and teens clubs, and a 238-slip marina. Four on-site dining options range from casual seaside bistros to DJ-fueled supper clubs, though the highlight is certainly Sabia, a refined Italian spot helmed by Michelin starred Chef Giorgio Locatelli.
Not to be outdone, One & Only’s exclusive partnership with Chenot, Switzerland’s renowned wellness operator, brings heightened attention to Portonovi’s spa. The Chenot Espace will be a multi-dimensional holistic experience, with tailored treatment options, outdoor exercise classes, and integrated detox treatments and diet plans by the Chenot Method.
WHO SHOULD GO
While we certainly know of one or two (or hundreds) of eager travelers ready for any taste of Europe this summer, One & Only Portonovi will appeal to those who enjoy resort-type settings or those who like having one home base from which to explore a region. Portonovi is primed for day-trips, including cross-country jaunts into Croatia — Dubrovnik is only an hour away by car (or 15 minutes by helicopter, if you’re feeling fancy). For expeditions closer to home, try sailing to the nearby villages of Kotor and Perast. And for those with Adriatic charter itineraries, Portonovi makes a great first or final destination.
