It’s clear from the first meeting that Casey Green is up for a good time – and a little bit of trouble – and that this is nothing new. “I was a tomboy, that kid who questioned authority and paved my own path. My parents always said I was 4 going on 40. I would answer the family phone at 3 or 4 and tell telemarketers to take us off their list.” That attitude has prevailed into adulthood, and has allowed for lots of adventures along the way. “I studied abroad in Australia at the University of Melbourne, and we traveled all over Oz and New Zealand. On our first night in Sydney, I checked myself out of the group’s hostel and went to the Ritz in Sydney Harbor without telling any of the chaperones. I was also the only one in the group with a phone – a Blackberry World, specifically – and would use it to fiercely research everything from the best restaurants to the must see/do activities. That first night, a group of eight of us split the bill on a bunch of different credit cards for dinner in Sydney and somehow my card got charged 8 times. I got a strongly worded ‘check yourself’ email from my parents, who thought I was really going wild on fine dining Down Under – oops.”

Butter Sheets

One aspect of luxury hotels that hooked her on those early forays into self-upgrading was linens. “I remember getting to the Park Hyatt in Melbourne, quickly getting into the hotel robe, pouring myself a glass of champagne and crawling into what I referred to as ‘butter sheets.’ I still have a deep love for high thread count hotel sheets - my absolute favorite that I have brought home from a trip has to be the Beltrami Italian set from Grand Hotel Tremezzo on Lake Como. What makes a butter sheet even better? When you check in to the hotel to find your initials on the pillowcase – attention to detail at its finest.”

But Casey is not all about lounging around with bubbles – she’s also an adrenaline junkie. She got on skis the first time before she started kindergarten, played soccer and tee ball as a kid, rowed crew and played lacrosse, and went to college for field hockey. While traveling, she’s the type that’s constantly jumping off of or out of things: skydiving, canyon swinging, bungee jumping, white water rafting, or heliskiing. And when she’s done flying through the air or getting submerged in icy water, she’s ready for a good meal (and a drink to go along with it.) “Food and wine drive my whole day. My dad used to plan his next meal while he was eating his current meal, and he passed that on to me.” That meal may be fine dining – she’s quick to ferret out a caviar list at a hotel – or it might be something cheap, neighborhoody, and delicious. “One of my first trips with my now husband, Doug, was to Paris for a long weekend. Doug was wearing slacks and a blazer, and I got decked out in silver pants, pumps, and a fur, without any set plans when we left the hotel. Our night took us from Bar Hemingway for cocktails to the local McDonalds for a Parisian Big Mac to sharing a crepe from a local truck before we made our way downstairs for an underground jazz show at Caveau de la Huchette.”

My goal is to make my boys proud of me, not only as a mom, but a mom that has a successful career. My guess is that I’ll gain some bonus points since that career happens to explore the world with them in tow.

Sweet and Spicy

And despite the fact that she’s the type of girl who will laughingly tell you about accidentally losing her lunch on her tandem skydiving partner (and subsequently tipping very generously plus paying for his flight suit to be dry-cleaned), there’s also a big streak of sentimentality behind the gravelly voice and dry sense of humor. “My Christmas tree is covered with ornaments from every place I have traveled, and my two sons, Pierce (20 months) and Campbell (5 months) both have had Global Entry since they were blobs. I have already started their ornament collection so they will be able to outfit their future Christmas trees.”

Going full speed ahead – whether to chartered yacht or a local dive bar – is something that was imparted upon Casey from a young age, and something she’s excited to pass along to the next generation. “I grew up with two CEO parents, and that made me extremely proud. My goal is to follow in their footsteps and make my boys proud of me, not only as a mom, but a mom that has a successful career. My guess is that I'll gain some bonus points since that career happens to explore the world with them in tow.”
